All the versions of this article:
This tour from Aire-sur-la-Lys ( Pas-de-Calais) leads to the edge of the Planquette, a stream of the country of Seven valleys, country which inspired all Georges Bernanos’s novels.
Even if Bernanos was too much a city-man ever to really take root in this country, Artois occupies a dominating, unique place, in his youth and romantic work in which he recorded an extraordinary internal vision.
In order to plunge more intimately into the Bernanosian atmosphere, it’s best to do this tour in November or December.
